Story

Shaman has a threefold Story. Part I is the main story involving Noadi and Laerad, Part II is about Noadi's parents, and Part III is about Laerad and Skya. Now these parts do not happen in this order or even in chronological order.

Part I: Noadi and Laerad.

Many of the magical creatures and even some people from in and around Noadi's village have disappeared or died recently. The villagers have a magical energy that protects their village and keeps it in harmony with their forest. Draoi the shaman of the village is very worried.

One evening a young man (Laerad) stumbles injured into the village. Over his recovery he tells Noadi that strange creatures that appear to be distortions of natural animals have been appearing and that magical creatures and people with magic have been dying or disappearing in his area as well. Laerad doesn't know how he was injured, he remembers being hit by something that burned from behind then he just ran. Noadi begins suspecting he isn't a normal man.

Draoi consults the spirits to find out why. They say to send Noadi to investigate. Laerad chooses to accompany her, he wants to find out how and why he was injured and he begins caring for his nursemaid.

They begin asking at villages and towns for information, the problems seem to be coming from the northeast. Laerad is forced to use his powers to kill an attacker, afterwards he explains that he is half incubus when Noadi questions him on what happens.

While traveling people tell them about family members, friends or neighbors who disappeared or died mysteriously. They find magic creatures dead, dying, injured, or frightened as well.

Part II: Taru and Vesa.

Vesa was a court mage in a fairly calm kingdom. He met Taru at court when she was there on a diplomatic visit. Her pastoral village was under the protection of the kingdom but her people were given complete autonomy as long they supplied the army with their well known healers in times of war. Taru and Vesa were married two years later.

Vesa retired from being a mage to farm in Taru's village. They left after a deadly war in which both were sought by the enemy. They fled to Draoi's village with their baby daughter Noadi. A few years later a pestilence came into the village that was not kept out by the usual protections around the village. After consulting with the spirits of the forest Vesa and Taru left to seek out a cure.

Part III: Skya and Laerad.
