Eye Size Chart
This chart shows the diameter of eyes for various animal
species and then the size of the eyeball at different scales. The
measurements are for the total diameter of the eyeball not the iris.
I'll hopefully have some resources on irises and pupils at a later
time. If you would like to see an animal up here that isn't or can help
me fill in the bottom few animals that I haven't been able to track
down their eye size please email
me or leave a comment at the bottom of the page. If you find
this useful I would love to know.
Thanks to the Wetcanvas Reference Image Library
for most of the photos, the chicken and squirrel pictures are my own.

* Note: All eye sizes for extinct animals are only
estimates based on fossil skulls. Sadly since fossils don't preserve
eyeballs I can't give you much guidance on what their eyes looked like
aside from reccomending looking at a variety of reptile and bird eyes
to see what looks right to you.*
If you aren't comfortable with metric measurements you
can convert it to inches using this formula:
(size in milimeters) x .039 = (size in inches)
If you found this useful, consider leaving a tip..

Thank you very much, I was in the process of looking up information on eye
sizes and converting them to scale size when I came across your chart. I
use round metal beads to form the eyeballs for my sculpts. This chart will
be a great help in limiting the trial and error to get the right size.
